FAQs

Everything you need to know about our storage units

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether you’re storing personal belongings, business stock, or larger household items, we want to make the process as simple and stress-free as possible. Below you’ll find answers to some of our most commonly asked questions about access, payments, security, insurance, and booking your storage unit.

Do you offer insurance?
We don’t provide insurance, however, we do advise you to insure your goods whilst in storage. We have good security measures in place but it’s worth having insurance to cover you against unforeseen events such as fire/flood etc. We recommend contacting www.insurastore.com for a quotation.
Do we have to bring our own padlock?
We do advise you to buy your own padlock, however, we do have some available on site for purchase if you’ve forgotten to bring one.
What security do you have?
There is 24 hour CCTV coverage across the site, gated entrance requiring a key fob to access, and security lighting in the evenings. Our CCTV is accessible from our mobile devices enabling us to keep an eye on the site even when we’re not there.
When can I access my unit?
External units are accessible 24/7 with a key fob. Internal units are accessible from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sundays. The main gate is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 2:30pm on Fridays. It remains closed on Saturdays and Sundays, so if you wish to access an internal unit over the weekend then you will require a key fob.
How much notice do I have to give?
We ask for 2 weeks’ notice to vacate your unit. If you vacate without giving the 2 weeks’ notice you may be charged for the notice period.
How do I pay?
Payment is made in advance by BACS or standing order at the start of each month. We do not accept cash or cheques.
Is there anything I can’t store?
  • Food or perishable goods
  • Birds, fish, animals or any other living creatures
  • Combustible or flammable materials or liquids such as paint, petrol, oil or cleaning solvents
  • Explosives, weapons or ammunition
  • Chemicals, radioactive materials or biological agents
  • Toxic waste, asbestos or other materials of a dangerous nature
  • Any item which emits any fumes, smell or odour
  • Any illegal substance, illegal items or goods illegally obtained
  • Compressed gases
How do I book a unit?

Please call the office on 07483135708 or 01736 799030.

You can also complete our online enquiry form and someone will contact you shortly.

What documents do I need to book/rent a unit?
We use the Self Storage Association licence agreement which requests customers to provide one form of photo ID (passport or driving licence) and a document for proof of address. We also require a second contact person to be added to the contract.
Is there a minimum storage period?
Yes, 1 month.
Do I have to pay a deposit?
No, we don’t take any deposits. All we ask is that you return the unit in the state you received it.
What happens if I leave part way through the month?
This does happen occasionally and if it does, we would refund the remaining weeks (as long as we had received the 2 weeks notice).
Do you have trolleys?
Yes, we do have trolleys located by the ramp and at the back entrance by the conservatories.
Is it possible to view the storage unit before I rent?
It’s not always possible to view the interior of a storage unit before renting, but it is always possible to view the unit externally and check its location.
